In the Utah attorney general’s race, Republican John Swallow has a sizable lead over Democratic Weber County Attorney Dee Smith, 55 percent to 24 percent. Another 18 percent are undecided, while 3 percent favor another candidate. Libertarian Andrew W. McCullough is the only third-party candidate in the race.
Swallow has served as Attorney General Mark Shurtleff’s chief deputy since 2009. Shurtleff is not seeking re-election after three terms in office.
“We’re happy that the poll shows such a large margin for me,” Swallow said. Still, “we’re going to take nothing for granted and keep working through 8 o’clock on Tuesday.”
